Bought, Read, & Watched.

I am happy to say after a heavy duty round of antibiotics I am finally back to feeling almost human again. Being sick, having a heatwave and the power outage that San Diego experienced had left me feeling  - well BLAH!! But this weekend I woke up with some energy, our perfect weather was back and I was pretty tired of laying on the couch being a grumpy mess.

I had to get out and well I found a couple of fun purchases...

Is there anything better than office supplies?!?! I have been enamored with them since I was a little girl and I always find an excuse to buy them even now. My new glitter composition book, gigantic eraser, and Micron pens will all be getting put to good use - I just know it!

I also started reading...

I was first grabbed by the cover design to be honest, I am only in the first chapter, but so far I love it. The idea of trying to define my personal style seems like a project I would like to accomplish. I have been feeling in a bit of a rut lately to be honest - do you ever get in those moods where you hate your hair, your clothes all start looking the same, and your closet is a sad mess - well that's where I am at. Hopefully this book will shake things up a bit, I will have to keep you posted.

I also decided to start a Hitchcock movie fest. One classic film a weekend (I love horror/thriller movies) until I get through them all. First up...

The Birds. It was a perfect blend of creepy and suspenseful, plus Tippi Hedren had an amazing wardrobe.

That was my weekend in a nutshell - what where you all up to?

Movie still source, all other photos by me.

A Diary and A Dress.

I have loved this book cover for the longest time so I was super excited to find an equally lovely dress to pair with it.

A Diary and A Dress

It has been a little while since I have done one of these but this combo was too pretty to pass up.

A Diary and A Dress.

The Diary: F. Scott Fitzgerald The Beautiful and Damned
The Dress: Milly Liana Metallic Lace Shift Dress

A perfect pairing for the holiday season, wouldn't you agree? I am not sure which one of these two I think is more lovely, so either one will do.

A Diary and A Dress

On a side note I am also starting to think I have a minor obsession with alliteration as I feel all my blog titles need to have a some sort of repetition of sounds or letters (I warned you all I was a teeny tiny bit OCD). So in keeping with the tradition tomorrow will be Women and Words Wednesday or maybe Women We Love Wednesday. It's still a work in progress.

A Diary and A Dress

I am a sucker for a great book and or book cover and a great dress. In my honest opinion I probably have too many of one and not enough of the other. I thought it would be fun to find a dress inspired by a book cover so taa-daa.

To Kill A Mockingbird was the first serious book I remember reading in 9th grade English and it has been a favorite ever since.  If your not familiar with the book or you need a quick review check out this one over at Spiral Style. It was featured as the Latest Book Club Selection and she gives a great synopsis as well as a couple other options if you would like to join in on the 50th Anniversary Celebration of this classic by Harper Lee.

Library Love.

Library Love 9/365, originally uploaded by Angela Q..

I decided to head over to the library between classes this afternoon to pick up my holds and renew our latest finds. As a family of book lovers we are constantly adding to our ever growing collection, but like most people, space inevitably becomes an issue so we head over to the library to get our new book fix.

My current library list includes:

This book follows Kingsolver and her family as they move from Arizona to a farm where they produce and eat only locally grown food. It is part narrative part a scientific look at how our food has changed over the past generation. It also indulges my idea of chucking it all and moving to a farm.

This is the book that inspired Sofia Coppola's movie of the same name. fascinating stuff if you enjoy historical bio's and tragic figures, which I do.

I had to include a cookbook, right?!?! This is actually so good I bought it. The recipes are relatively simple and family friendly. I will definitely be taking some photos of the yummy stuff we are cooking up and include the recipes for you all.

Now it is time to share some library love and let me know what is on your checkout list?
