Urban Sparkle (& Thank You)

First of all thank you so very much for the birthday wishes for Punky, it was really so very sweet of you all. Blogging has been such a wonderful thing that has let me meet some wonderful people that it feels natural to share these moments with you all. So again from the bottom of my heart thank you.

On to some sparkle...

These installation pieces by Denmark artist Theresa Himmer are pretty spectacular and I like them - A LOT!! The pieces feel exactly like their titles: "Glacier", "Lava", and "Waterfall". They are perfect punctuations that don't overpower, but instead lend beauty to an urban setting.

10

July 28, 2001 6:01 AM - Z and I started off on the crazy ride called parenthood.

"Punky" - you are an incredible person who has taught me more than I thought possible. You have allowed me to open up my heart, to trust in something outside of myself, and most importantly that the sound of your laughter is enough to fix anything. If I could wrap up the world in a perfect little package and give it to you I would in a heartbeat, however since that isn't possible I will walk beside you on this journey -  supporting your decisions, cheering on your accomplishments, and watching you experience all that life has to offer you.

Happy Birthday!!!

Speaking of Picasso

Isn't this line drawing he did beautiful? Simplicity never fails.

Signed

People's signatures have always fascinated me, it is like a little piece of them that has moved and changed with them throughout the course of their life. Picasso's is pretty much a little piece of art in itself.

Already

Good Morning friends!! This week is a special week in the Q household as Punky turns 10 on Thursday. I always get a little emotional during this week, but for some reason this feels like a big birthday to me.

We went to the Selena Gomez concert last night and it was GREAT. We saw her before in a small venue in Arizona, but this had more of a concert feel and the crowd had definitely grown some. Our seats were perfect, there were some Disney Star sightings from the show Shake It Up (side note - I had no clue who they were) and that Bieber kid even showed up as a surprise at the end of the night. I am having a bit of ringing in my ears as I forgot how high pitched screaming can disturb one's hearing.

Here are a few iphone shots from the night. My old point and shoot is just that OLD. I think I may have to break down and buy a new one since it appears my iphone is better quality, but not having a zoom was disappointing. Any one have any suggestions?

The best part of the evening would have to be once we got home. When Z and I tucked in our favorite girl she looked up at us and said "Thanks for everything you do for me, I love you guys."

The Lovely Lila

This week my cousin sent me a text asking if I had seen the blog Lila was Here, well I hadn't but I quickly looked it up and was pretty much blown away.

Lila and her everyday adventures are captured beautifully by her mom and photographer Andrea of Pink Sugar Photography. As someone who has tried and failed miserably at trying to take a photo everyday I am speechless at how beautiful each and every image is. The lighting, the cropping, the captions *sigh*.

You know when you leave a site and feel inspired and rejuvenated - well that's how I felt.

On another note we have a busy weekend planned - Punky is turning 10 next Thursday and her big gift (tickets to Selena Gomez) is happening on Sunday. The fact that this concert is happening on a Sunday and starting at 8:00 AT NIGHT, made me feel at little old because my first thought was "isn't that a little late for a Sunday night?". Wish me luck friends as I enter tweendom.

Oh yea - Happy Friday!!!

Lines & Lingerie

2 pretty things in blue - Jean Paul Gaultier for La Perla and gorgeous line pattern from Labores Modernas.

Have I mentioned that I think anything that is designed on some type of grid or feels mathematical makes me do a little OCD happy dance? Just checking.

This Morning.

I wouldn't mind walking through a room with that wall paper and that door and eating breakfast in that kitchen.  Yep that would be just fine by me.

Worldly Women.

Japanese artist Masato Kato has some pretty incredible pieces of work especially a collection entitled "World". The detail and research that must have gone into this project really comes through when you view the series. My favorites where the history of fashion ladies. Check out the entire body of work here

Muted.

I have recently been obsessed with all things brightly colored and then I came across those paint dollops  and well a new obsession is now in full effect. Muted colors sure are pretty this Monday morning, don't you agree?

This Weekend...

Cause I am going to try to!!!

I have been exploring Photoshop more lately outside of just editing photos. I never took the time to play with brushes and decided to add some color to this quote.  I rather enjoyed it.

I'm A Guest.

Today I am posting a super fun bright color palette combo over on Spiral Style and I am super excited and a little nervous.

It is one thing to post on your own blog, but posting on another blog is liking being invited over to meet the family for the first time. Although I don't have to worry what to wear so that is a plus. So come on over and show some love and check out the lovely Spiral Style, you know you want to.

Because I Grew Up in the 80's

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Cosby Show for many reasons. It was the only show I was allowed to watch in the afternoons with my Grandfather, that and the 4 o'clock news of course. He took me back and forth from school nearly everyday and I have fond memories of curling up next to him on the couch and laughing at the antics of the Cosby Family.

When I came across the Cosby Sweater Project on Tumblr I couldn't help but fall in love with it. It is a brilliant idea, I mean they were 80's fashion at it's best? I still think the episode with Theo's Gordon Gartrell shirt is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Go spend a few minutes checking out this Tumblr site, you won't be disappointed. And whoever thought of this idea I love you!!

Orange Crush

My favorite color for the past couple of weeks is orange. I know it will change soon, but in the meantime  here are a few items on my orange wishlist.

(1) Jonathan Adler Love Pillow. (2)  Fauteuil Re-Trouve Emu - chair lust for sure!! (3) Forage Eames Bow Tie. (4) The always lovely Marilyn shot by George Barris. (5) Kate Spade Crystal Confection Ring. (6) Pumpkin Table Lamp. (7) Converse - a forever favorite in any color.

Finally.

I am so happy my good friend Friday has finally arrived.

This week seemed to be filled with projects that took longer than expected and hours that slipped by too quickly. I am looking forward spending some downtime with my toes in the grass and the sun on my face. Don't you think that weekends during the summer always feel like mini vacations, or is it just me.

Hope all you lovely people have a happy weekend, and of course a fantastic Fourth of July.
